Does anyone recognise this Scandinavian style vase
« on: July 28, 2019, 01:19:34 PM »
Hi.  Hope someone can help.  I found this vase in the North West of England a couple of months ago and have been trying to id it ever since.  Originally when I saw it I thought sea Glasbruk but for all the examples I've seen on the web none are the same size as this one.  They all seem to measure about 15 cm tall x 4 cm in diameter whereas this one is 22.5 cm tall and 6 cm in diameter.  Fairly flat polished base but you can see at the centre a few concentric 'circles' not unlike some 'Riihimaen' bases I've seen (I've tried to show these in the fourth image).  It weighs just over 450 gms.  If anyone can help identify this one it would be much appreciated.  Thanks

Have you considered Hirschberg?

The blue and the base appear very similar to this labelled example.....still only 15cm, but it might be worth further research for other shapes.

Thanks.  Yes the base and blue do look similar but I can't find anything shape wise from Hirschberg.  I did come across on ebay a 'Sea Glasbruk' (no label though so open to doubt) with larger dimensions than any I've seen before.

Possibly these vases where made in different sizes by Sea Glasbruk?

It would be nice to find a labelled example, even in a different size.  Then you know whose catalogue to track down to check sizes.  It'll turn up......will keep it in mind while I try and figure out my pieces.  It's a nice piece.....am sure you won't mind looking at it for a while longer!

I would say maybe Åseda Bo Borgström, looks very much like his objekts in shape.
They gets in many sizes, shapes and colors.
I attach an old picture of vases that I don’t have anymore.
Hope this can help you finding yours shape and color.

Jonas

It really highlights the limits of the Internet ....... I had tried "Aseda vase" and also "Bo borgstrom vase" and did not find any images for the same shape vase, and only one similar vase but without the flared top.  The GMB nails it again!

Hello,
It is hard to tell if some of this vases sometimes are from Åseda or Sea, both manufactured simular items.
Best way is of course to find a labeled in same color.
By the way, put in this search words in google and look at an old exebition here in Sweden.

It might also help if there were measurements for the Aseda and sea versions.
