Unusual Handled Yellow Urn Vase Signed?? Scavo?/TKMAX?
« on: December 23, 2019, 05:28:55 PM »
Have never been into these type of vessels just being honest i
never pick them up but did as i had been reading some threads
on here about Murano techniques and saw some Scavo & Corosso
pieces so i looked at the vase above and saw a faint mark so paid £2
a was wondering if this is a Murano Scavo piece or TKMAX? It is quite
weighty and just under 10" tall has a polished base and signed but i can't
make it out any ideas on its identity and construction please any views Thank
you so much Dan :)

That's what the mark reads, Greg, but is that what it is?
I was all gung-ho and ready to say; "Lafiore",  :-[
but you made me look at the surface texture again.
I can't actually make it out well enough to be able to tell.  ???
Cheers, Sue M. (she/her)

I was also going to ask for Ivo to take a look
as the threads i had been reading were mainly
helped by Ivo thanks to both i have maybe my
first piece of Murano Scavo? Sorry for poor pics
Sue i did on the hop in the loo as light was leaving
here and the camera hates taking decent pictures
i do hope i have managed to get my first one :)

Ivo has retired from the board, I'm afraid. He had served his time and more!  ;D
I'd love for you to have found some scavo too.

Thanks for those links Greg - you are convincing me.  ;D
I've tried to find any Lafiore this shape, but not got far.
I haven't found any with that extra ring of blue around the neck either.
I'm starting to seriously suspect Lafiore might have been very "inspired" by Moretti.  ;D ;D ;D
My lack of knowledge on Moretti is becoming rather obvious! :-[

There's certainly some overlapping characteristics.  :)

On balance I think Dan's piece is ok for Franco Moretti, can't go too far wrong for £2!

Oh Greg it was from the local skip or dump they have finally
decided to open a charity shop in a side building to the dump
and they try there best to hook decent things out before the
huge bulldozers get them i have seen some things in the bins
which you wouldn't believe could find there way into them its
terrible that people are so quick to sling our social histories away
i hope we all haven't forgotten that recycle is a good thing rant over ha
