ID Help for Ruffled Finger Bowl Pls?
« on: April 01, 2021, 06:20:37 PM »
Hi there, lurker here, finally getting the nerve together to ask for an ID  ;D.  So I have this pretty yellowy green ruffle finger bowl that I originally thought could be scandi or whitefriars, and after checking loads of this bowls out, I can't find an exact match, so thought I'd ask the experts on here pls?  Size is approx. 12cm x 7cm.

Sorry but your photos are sized too small to pick out the detail properly, the number before the x needs to be around 700 and individual photos of each view would be better. Having said that your bowl may possibly be by one of the Stourbridge glassmakers but attributing it to a specific company may be difficult.

Welcome to the board. Please post individual photos. You can add up to 4 per reply. And flick the glass to see if it gives a lead crystal ring too please

Ahh thank you, I did think they were getting smaller each photo *lol*.  I'll do that now!

Thank you, it's been a fabulous resource even just as a lurker, reading and learning.  That's super, I'll do that now, and yes it does ring nicely too.   :)

Should also say when you 'bing' it, it doesn't have a high shrill ring, it's quite a deep mellow ring.

Much better but I can't help with an ID. There is a lot of this type of glass around in ruby/cranberry but not much in the yellow/green. It may be what was called "citron".

It's the shape of a marmalade dish (without the ruffle around the middle) but it does look as if it was made to fit into a holder.
In Bohemian glass, citron is a very pale yellow, but I don't know whether or not it was used as the name for other colours in other places. :)

https://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,70473.0.html   This is a link to an earlier post of mine, I'm not sure if my vase is the same colour. Smart Brothers produced lampshades in a colour they called "citron".
