Striking ribbed vase with flower top - who made it?
« on: August 15, 2021, 05:25:51 PM »
Just bought this very striking vase. I don't known who made it. It's about 29 cm tall. There are no marks.

Thanks for any pointers.

Anton

sorry, absolutely no idea, other than saying the shape looks to be giving a nod toward a jip design  -  this may or may not (I suspect the latter) be worth investigating.

Could it be by Murero, made in Empoli, Florence, Italy?

Anton, I looked at other Murero vases online and the stems seem to be much plainer than yours. I did, however, find this one which has a similar body to yours although the flower at the top is slightly different https://www.proantic.com/en/display.php?id=445146 - it has a dozen images too, which allows you to compare it well with yours, including the base; and another with a similar style top to yours - again with multiple images - https://vintageatthelinge.com/listing/968010974/beautiful-green-white-and-yellow-murano - hope these might be useful.
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Thanks Anne. The second link is definitely similar to my vase. But the attribution to Murano I suspect is just a guess, IMO. But made in Italy seems to be possible.
