Hi Roy - sorry, unable to help you with provenance for this one. As a general comment regarding cameo and pate-de-verre - regret I know only what I read in the books, and the image shown here looks more akin to cameo rather than the powder/paste invention. Galle of course did make pate-de-verre, but other French outputs were better known for this method, which statistically reduces the chance of this one being from them. Your piece has more the look of glass layers on top of a base glass, with mediums such as carving, acid or sand-blasting used to remove some parts of the surface glass to create the decoration, whereas with the paste method it's mostly the colour of the powdered glass that creates the picture and of course they were always one offs since the mould is decimated to retrieve the glass. Agree, nice little piece though - v.g. find - well done.
