Showing one of the few pieces of glassware that can be attributed to John Baird of Glasgow. This tumbler of King Edward appears in Baird's March 1910 advert in the Pottery Gazette as "one style of acid decoration for advertising purposes". The glass is wafer thin, almost plastic feel, and is lead free.
The motto on the rear reads "Oh Scotland with all thy faults / I love thy stills / Ballochmyle"
Other examples shown in the advert are a carafe with "Watson's Dundee Whisky" printed on, a flat rectangular paperweight, and a chemist's measure glass.
