Opaline ovoid vase mint green stripes -any ideas?
« on: April 02, 2022, 10:52:21 AM »
Had this piece for a while, but other than seeing one on ebay (erroneously attributed to Whitefriars) haven't seen another example.
It's assymetric with a slanted top. It's quite a pretty thing with a ground down, polished pontil so seems to be of some quality.
Think it may be fairly modern, but don't have too many ideas as to maker. 21 cm or 8.4 inches height.
any ideas at all appreciated!
Cheers Geraint.

This one is the same shape but different decor -seller says Kosta Boda but I think that might not be right.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373999609152?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338722076&customid=&toolid=10050

I don't know much about Scandinavian glass but I think if it were Kosta Boda it would be signed.  I seem to remember seeing a few of these around a few years ago.  So perhaps they are more mass produced and recent, maybe for the florist market or something?
But I could be wrong.

Many thanks FF!
interesting to find they come in different decors, hopefully that should increase the chances of an ID over time.. Like you, I think the attribution on the link is pretty specious.
If I had to hazard a guess right now, I'd probably go for a good quality modern Polish maker ( one of the Krosno factories) and from the last 15 years, but we shall see!  :)

Is this at all similar?

Can't recover the full listing but this one has a label on Innovate - Dartington Innovate range?

Some of the Innovate wares have been discussed on the board before, they looked like stuff bought in by Dartington and marketed under the Innovate name.

You're welcome :) I knew I'd seen a few of these somewhere.

The information from Dartington on this Innovate range and where it was produced is here on this thread:
