I bought this at an estate sale at the old home of the patriarch of Sun Maid Raisins. Don't know what it is but it caught my eye so I got it.

Reminds me of something that might hold oil or perfume, except it is orders of magnitude larger than the typical glass receptacles that would normally be used for that. Also uses a miniature version of itself as the stopper.

Any thoughts anyone might care to share on this would be much appreciated.  :)

You also might try posting it to www.collectorsweekly.com. There are many knowledgeable collectors of that site.

Apothecary show globe. Usually filled with a colored water and displayed in pharmacies. A sort of trade sign thing . Quite common in late 19th century early 20th century. May be single , double or triple.
Yours a nice hand blown and engraved example probably late 19th c. Missing stopper.
