Mottled bowl - Nazeing? Vasart?
« on: August 18, 2022, 03:38:35 PM »
Hi

Mottled green bowl, quite heavy and it has a nice ting!
Had thought it was Nazeing but haven't been able to find the same shape.
Has a couple of strange small marks on the base, but they are small - a shape a bit like an eight and a 'k'. There may even be a 31 there, but it is very tiny!
Dimensions - 24.5 cm or 9.5 inches diameter. Height of 8 cm or just over 3 inches.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Thanks Geraint.

Just a gentle nudge to ask does anyone have access to the Timberlake book which is referenced in a number of other threads on here about Nazeing. I was wondering if the shape here was shown in there?

Steven & Williams also made this kind of green cloudy glass at the same time, but the base finish doesn't look of the right quality for them. I'm pretty sure this is British and from 30s-50s though.

:) I'm pretty sure it is Nazeing.
Sorry nobody's said anything before!
I think we must have been feeling lazy with the heat or distracted by other stuff, and hoped somebody else would say something first.

Thanks Sue. It does seem to be right for them, just a shame I can't find the shape!

I'm not much of a one for catalogues, I can't even find links to them mostly.
If this shape isn't in a basic one, might it be in the Ellwell one?
(I think this is when I start getting mixed up with modern pop stars.) justin timberlake?
