Hi Anne,
As far as I know only Dennis Hadley has done any serious research into the Stained glass windows of Whitefriars but I could be wrong !
He sent me a letter some time ago telling me.
Quote.. " the company order books show an order for July 1936... " 6 pieces of tracery glass for the Rector's study. Cartoons by Edmond Hogan. $300 " So each panel cost $50, but at that time Powell obtained nearly $5 to the pound...... and 10 pounds is not much for something so intricate "
He then goes on to say that he could find no order for "Vices" which leads him to believe they were a gift to Dr Brooks , the Rector, in order to encourage him to order more windows.
Nearly all the windows in the main part of the church are designed by James Hogan.
Regards, Patrick.
