Is the glass iridised Paul? It looks as if it may have a sheen, or it may just be a trick of the light/monitor.

hello Anne -  I think it's a combination of the satinized finish and the type blue colouring that gives it a slight iridised look.   Fairly sure no one has thrown any salts at it :)
