Pair of miniature orange vases - Rindskopf?
« on: July 19, 2012, 09:58:34 AM »
I'm not sure if these are spill vases or not, but they are very narrow with only around 1.5cm diameter opening and stand just 6" high.  They look very like those seen in the Josef Rindskopf 1915 catalogue no.2128 seen here http://www.glas-musterbuch.de/Rindskopf-1915.8+B6YmFja1BJRD04JnByb2R1Y3RJRD0zNzEmcGlkX3Byb2R1Y3Q9OCZkZXRhaWw9.0.html although no size is given there.  Presumably these were made in different sizes?

Am I right in thinking they are the same?
TIA  :)

Do they have the four ribs running up from the corners?

Yes they do.  Unfotunately not seen clearly in the pics.

I don't think orange was a likely colour in 1915 and these vases were made by every glass maker in Germany - and China. "Glas zum Gebrauch" has a picture of 12 different ones, all from the Bavarian forest - so unless you match size and colour scheme from the catalogue to your vases, this will remain uncertain.

Thanks folks for your comments.  :-*
I've just noticed that they are triple layered - clear/orange/clear.

For what it is worth, the foot style, although similar, looks different to me.  I am also not so sure Rindskopf was doing this style of glass at that time.....  Not really sure they ever did.
I have been told that glass is my mistress......
