Topic: Art Deco fan shaped vase Brockwitz ??

Has this vase been identified ?...I am sure I have see it before and I thought it might be Brockwitz but I have been unable to find it in any catalogues...any ideas please

Brockwitz is quite well documented meanwhile, and I dare to say no, this is not one of their products. Especially the upper rim is definitely not 'Brockwitz style'
similar Brockwitz vases - maybe you had these in mind?

Hi Angela,
I have this in blue, also, with a frog. I bought it at a country fair in Victoria, AUS, from a chap, who had bought it in the UK. I also have it in pink, which I bought from Monte Video, Uruguay. It makes me wonder, could it have been made by one of the glass companies in Argentina?
Would Pamela have any thoughts on this?

That's brilliant thanks Neil..wow that is an unusual frog not seen one like that before...at least i know what to look for...maybe Pamela has seen one like this before and could help in identification of the vase.

I am pretty sure that blue frog from your vase is the frog that fits into the Missen vase and the Brockwitz lady slots into as in the catalogue?

Hi Nige,
You certainly had a good thought, and made me find my stored Meissen vases in the garage. The frog supports in the vase are much lower in the vase than this frog could reach, and the vase is wider in this part than the frog. The blue vase I have for this frog has supports at the correct level for this frog. I tried my amber Brockwitz lady in the large hole in the centre. Due to the 5 mm. raised edge on the frog, inside the small holes, the lady could not be viewed from the front, as shown in the Brockwitz 1936 Farbentafeln supplement. The toes on her right leg protrude further than the rest of the base area of the figurine causing her to be facing 45 degrees from the front, to avoid damage to the toes by this raised edge. Also, the peg is a very loose fit in the large hole in the frog.
