Hooped Blue Vase - ID please
« on: March 17, 2005, 09:54:22 PM »
I have two of the vases pictured (the colour on the picture is not quite right, it is la bit less greyish blue).  One bought on eBay.uk and one from a charity shop in Kent.   The glass is rather thin including the bottom of the vase.  The hoops (is this the correct term?) are more rounded in one of the vases.   No makers marks.  Could it be Scandinavian (Riihimäen perhaps) or British? No pontil mark what so ever. The bottom of the vase is not polished.

Would be intrested to hear your opinions.
Many thanks,

Color: I think this is what I would call midnight blue.
The only thing similar I can find is Bo Borgstrom for Aseda but cased with thick base.
Not UK made IMHO

Thanks.  I thought midnightblue would be darker, this is rather light blue with greyish tinge.   Anyway, I might try AntikPrat (the Swedish discussion board), maybe somebody there regognizes it.

Out of interest (and based on my non-existing knowledge of glass making), how is that kind of vase produced.  Is it mold blown or ?

Thanks again.

I think this colour is what Kugler and others call Stahl Blau - Steel Blue
