Pressed blue goblet - help with pattern please?
« on: April 04, 2007, 11:37:18 AM »
Nice steely blue pressed goblet, 4.5 ins 110 mm tall, 3.5 ins 90 mm across rim.  Not iridised.

Does anyone recognise the pattern?

I'll keep looking in the interim.

Hi Lynne,

Would you believe that your goblet is related to my goblet here:
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,11493.msg83812.html#msg83812

The original pattern seems to be Baccarat (and sits right next to my pattern in the catalogue), I assume from the colour that yours is reproduced as well?

Hi Cathy,

I would almost definitely say yes, the feel of the glass, the shine to the inside, all feel very modern.  Ivo's date of 1960s onwards feels much more like than end 19th century.

I love the Pressglas site, but have real problems with it, as I speak no German (other than zweimal caffee bitte.... noch zmeimal caffee bitte.... danke...which few words get me a loooong way......) so can't work out what to search for.  And to go through ALL the catalogues... phew!

Thank you very much!

Isn't it a brilliant resource and kudos to Siegmar Geisselberger for setting it up, but yes, I know what you mean about the german... Enschuldigen Sie bitte, aber mein Deutch ist kaput. Sprechen Sie English, bitte...  that's as far as I get :) At school, a darling friend of mine taught me to say "Je ne suis pas ici, je suis a la lune." - a phrase she thought I'd need, no doubt. That I didn't kill her for it says a lot about our relationship!

(This wibble will self-destruct in 10 - 9 - 8 .... :) )

I wonder how your school friend knew about you so early???
