Does anyone know if this is Venetian glass and the approximate age? One of the handles has been repaired with a metal pin. Thanks.

Your Tazza is either Venetian or Facon-de-Venise and yes, to me it looks old. However, like most of us I never get to handle antique Venetian glass so I'm not in the best position for venting definite attributions and time slot opinions.

Cameron — a lovely elegant tazza.   Ivo was spot on when he referred to handling Venetian glass.   You will find that most authorities will need to handle it to give you an accurate attribution, particularly as early styles of Venetian glass are still being made today — I've seen them in the Murano showrooms and factory shops.

I have a pair of fully authenticated early C20 (about 1900–1910) Venetian low candlesticks with a matching ribbed foot, with a very similar lightly folded rim to the foot for strength.   Most of the early Venetian and Façon-de-Venise pieces I have seen in books and in the museum on Murano have a much broader fold, about ¼" or more.

If you are in the UK, you could take it to the Gaydon Glass Fair on May 8, where you will find dealers with the expertise to help you with attribution, and a formal attribution service, just inside the entrance.
