Old Carnival Glass Vase
« on: April 13, 2007, 11:31:07 PM »
I recently picked up this lovely carnival glass vase, with a very unique texture to exterior.  Could anyone help me to identify the manufacturer and approximate age?  I'm assuming 1920s.

Thanks,
Charles.

Hi Charles,

This is a Dugan Lined Lattice swung vase - a very pretty pattern. Definitely classic period carnival, I think it dates to the early 1900s (Replacements.com says 1905, but take that with a pinch of salt).

Absolutely - it's as Cathy says. I can only add that 1905 is a bit too early. In fact this year (2007) is the 100 year Anniversary of Carnival Glass...the first pieces were "advertised" / made by Fenton in 1907. The Dugan "Lined Lattice" vase is likely to have been made a little later than that. It is undoubtedly an example of "Classic Carnival Glass".

This vase is not easy to find - and if the little feet are perfect, then you are very lucky. It's a lovely item. There is also a rarer version that has square feet!

A splendid "find" - congratulations.
