Topic: Pressed Vaseline glass decanter. Help please.

Hi all,

Out of all the goodies that I got today there were only two pieces that I could not identify and this is one of them.

More lemon than green, but glows really well.



Any ideas?

Great, Della! Now all you have to do is find a matching tumbler and tray!

How did you get that it was VSL?  Any clues?  Or just lots of searching?

I just thought that the best thing to do was to think logically (something OH says that I most definitely don't normally do) and, being in NL, decided that either German or Belgium were the best supects to start with (as we are 10 mins either side of each border).  I looked at Pamela's site first and then posted here, (    a little hasty maybe, but if anyone else finds a similar one, they can no hopefully ID it here)
and then started to google for VSL and fell really lucky, as it only took me a few minutes.
I also found two solifleur vases today, one is Hirschberg and labelled and the other is Ingridglas, also labelled. The latter having been confused a few times for either Walther, or Pukeberg, or even Iittala, so I am intending on uploading a photo of both label and vase to yobunny.

All in all, I had a very productive day today.

I own the one that the link went to (3 pieces).  It is on a high shelf right now, so don't want to get it down, but it is either the tumbler or the underplate that is marked.  there are also NUMEROUS other pieces to this pattern (3 sizes cologne, several sizes of puff boxes, a watch stand, pin tray, comb tray, etc) and some of those are also marked.

I took the time to get it off the top shelf......

It is marked as such:

VAL S LAMBERT
    DEPOSE

it is on the inside bottom rim of the tumble-up glass, and on the top of the plate, next to the inner rim, just before the plate flares out towards the edge.  There is no 't' after the 'S'  ("St.") on the marking.

Thank you so much for your response and for your very informative website. I haven't had my hands on very many pieces of Vaseline glass, so have never really had to research a piece.

The pattern looks incredibly similar, to my eyes. I did look on Pamela's site, honest!

unless proven otherwise, i suspect that the posey trough on Pamela's website is the same pattern and was made by VSL.  They also made this pattern in clear, with an amber stain at the little bumpy area.

I managed to find 2 graduating perfume bottles and a lidde powder jar today, whilst have a walk around a flea market in Maatricht.

The lidded jar is impressed with Val St Lambert, Belgique. The only damage is a very small cip to the base of one of the stoppers.
