Help with identification please - Holmegaard ?
« on: July 21, 2007, 09:16:41 AM »
Just received this piece, in soak to remove some of the dirt from the inside, so for now will have to rely on the Ebay listing for pics:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140134714678

Plenty of wear on the base, no signature but polished pontil mark.

I can see similarities with the Holmegaard flame pieces, eg

but grateful for thoughts.

TS did some pieces in a similar vein for Iittala in clear glass and without a "handle style loop".

This is a link to an ongoing auction for a signed TS, I am not involved in the auction in any way.

I've seen a few very similar pieces in various colours. Whilst I'm fairly sure they are Scandinavian, I'd say not Holmegaard.

PS: The Holmegaard vase you linked to is called 'Bison', from the 'Abstraktion' range.

When I saw that twig-blown hole, I thought Timo Sarpaneva too.  I would have expected a signature though...

thanks very much to all, I'll get a picture of the base tomorrow, if that helps. I agree it looks and feels Scandinavian (poss German, not Czech).
