Different Alladins cave ID help please
« on: July 27, 2007, 02:30:28 PM »
Hi,
I have just got this weight
Top: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-8048
Side: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-8047
Base: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-8046

The style is the same as the Alladins cave: http://glassgallery.yobunny.org.uk/displayimage.php?pos=-7893
but using complete cane sections instead of cullet as in the Alladins cave.
The canes look to me very Perthshirish (is that a word?) but I can find no reference to a later Alladins cave and the original was only made 1969-1971.  The base also looks like a typical Perthshire hollow-ground.
So did Pertshire, post 1997, make a weight like this?
If not, the most likely other people are: Peter McDougal (sp?) or John Deacons; looking at the amazing cane work it seems unlikely to me that anyone else could have done it?
As always all help is appreciated.
Kind regards,
Karel Marais

Stellar,
One gets so used to seeing the millefiori being organised in neat rows and pattern that this one comes as a bit of a shock to the system...but it is a nice shock ;D
