Burmese ware
« on: August 12, 2007, 02:21:16 PM »
I know the little vase on the left is Thomas Webb because it's marked but does anyone have any idea about the piece on the left. side view , bases Until I picked up the painted one yesterday (for a £5), I had thought it was probably Webb because some of was only marked with a label. However, there are some differences. The 12 rib mould vase is more pink and more yellow and has a slightly different pontil. It also has a different finish - it's like the difference between cotton sheets and polycotton sheets. The Webb one is silkier and has a slight sheen

Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.
Alfred Lichtwark (1852-1914)
