Hi. I believe this is a Walther Vase, however I do not know the era....is it pre-WWII or is it more recent? Thanks, Ken

I would be saying pre WW2. It is from the King Tut craze - mid-late 1920s, into the early 1930s. I'll check and give you more accurate date info if no-one else does. You may find these interesting too.

Thanks Glen for the confirmation, the date & the article you authored. It is very much appreciated. We don't see that much Walther here across the pond. Ken

I can find this design in Walther catalogues earliest in 1928, however the exact shape of yours is missing throughout Walther, sorry  :-X Glen is knowing much more and better regarding other possible manufacturers  :)

Thanks Pamela for your comments. Due to your response I contacted two German glass authorities, one of which authored what most consider to be the best German Glass website & the vase has been completely authenticated as Walther. One gentleman sent me the catalog page from the 30's, but unfortunately it has a file extension I cannot open. I learned that you are correct that the vase was also produced later from about 1948 to about 1965 by the glass works VEB Sachsenglas in Eastern Germany, however the pre-WWII vase had the solid gold band while the other had gold toned figures within the band.  Both opinions were that this particular vase was the circa 1936-38 vase. I probably should have simply contacted these individuals initially, however I did learn something regarding VEB Sachsenglas in Eastern Germany so I'll know what to look for if in the future I run across another of these (I wish that would happen).  Ken

Pamela let me make it perfectly clear I think your German glass website is without doubt as superb (my apology for not recognizing you as a site author also) & that is all I will say in this matter.

Ken and all, please:
my knowledge of English language is insufficient again, I'm afraid  :'(
I do not mind whose pages are the best, each is different and very informative; I only wish to know about others, perhaps unknown to me so far  ;D
Is it A. Becker's pressglas.de page? I lift my hat, always!
Thank you  :D
