Glasses with Fused Cherry In Base Dorflinger? Uranium?
« on: August 27, 2007, 06:18:35 AM »
Hi,
I have these glasses that I am trying to figure out who made them but I'm hitting a dead end. All have a cherry in the bottom - 2 amber, 3 green and 1 clear. The stems are all the same, the amber tops have the design at the bottom and a thumbprint design around the top. They all stand 4 3/4" tall x 2 3/4" aross the top. The amber pair glow a green under a blacklight, the clear parts of the others glow a pale yellow. Anyone familiar with these glasses or know who they are made by? I have found 3 example by Dorflinger, so I have no idea if these are Dorflinger or someone else. Any thoughts appreciated.
thanks.

As the amber glasses glow under UV, there is a chance that they might be uranium glass. Maybe Christine can help?

No sorry. I'd also need some convincing that the amber ones were uranium

Mary, sorry that I cannot be of help, but YOUR glasses are the ultimate for a MANHATTAN Cocktail if no cherry is available  :chky: Or even better: an old fashioned OLD FASHIONED cocktail  :o

here comes the recipe of an OLD FASHIONED cocktail - although I was'nt asked for it so far:
at least 4 cl of Canadian Club Whisky
a candied cherry at stem
some sugar and drips of angostura
each a slice of lemon and orange
anyone knows a better one please?

THIS to be removed to Café instantly  :-*
