Just wanted to show off my new weight by John and Craig Deacons.  My picture doesn't really do it credit, but IMHO this weight is an example of the fact that John's weights are as good, if not better, than anything many of the famous antique paperweight makers ever produced.

What a wonderful weight!!!!   Congratulations on your acquisition; it is lovely!  :clap:  I completely agree with you .... many of this maker's (and his team members) weights are really something.  As time goes on I believe his weights will be more and more sought after ..... especially when he can no longer make any.  (I hope it's a long, long time before that happens!)  My kids will probably be saying things like ..... " .... and this is by John Deacons; he was still alive then and her records show it only cost XX amount!!!!  Isn't it a treasure!"  Of course my kids might also be saying ..... "I wonder what we can get for it now?" 

Anyway, you have a beautiful weights there, Leni.  Enjoy it.

I totally agree with you about John and his team's place in history.
For those of you in the UK I believe John and Craig and Franco Toffolo are offering a master class in paperweight making later this year. Kevh - could you put some info about it on the events board?
I also hear on the grapevine that Willie Manson has branched out on his own again with a new studio. So those weights that were made by John and Willie will also be rare - quite soon I reckon.

That is an absolutely gorgeous paperweight! I have a few of his nicer pieces. I've come to appreciate his work in the last couple of years. I think it's mostly due to my finally being in a position to afford them.

Last year I got one of the 'Strathearn' collaborations by Manson and Deacons. I love Deacons' rose and pansy canes. I had them included in a one-off I had done earlier this year. The picture is not very good but you can kinda see that it has an aventurine ground and lettering. The whole effect is lacy and delicate.

I think I'm gonna start tucking a bit away each month until I can get that one.

Yes, superb isn't it?  John and Craig are really pushing the boundaries with the weights they are producing at the moment!  And Peggy says more are on the way  :girlcheer:

I did not see that the mushroom or the porthole(another astounding piece) weights were in limited quantities except perhaps by the difficulty in making them. P'raps I can get me one around tax time.

I get all my Scottish weights from Peggy. She's a gem.
