Large vase folded rim.
« on: September 30, 2007, 10:45:30 AM »
Can anyone help me with the identity of this piece? I suppose it's just a vase but does anyone have an idea of age or origin? I think it has a fair bit of age as the base is very worn. As you can see from the pictures it has a folded rim and applied lumps as 'handles'.
The piece is 31cm wide 18.5cm high and 12cm deep.
Thank you,
David

I think I may have a likely identity.
What do you think about Hadeland?
This picture makes it seem likely.

Could be.

The style of the compote by Severin Brørby was used on several other designs belonging to the series,
I haven't seen this shape in this series before, not that that means it doesn't exist  :)

If it is a Hadeland it is a second and should have a scretched "x" or "+" somewhere on the base.
The pontil mark on this piece would not have been acceptable for a first and doubtful even as a second.

Brørby did incorporate folded rims into a number of his designs and the base doesn't rule out HG.

The color doesn't appear to match but that could be the lighting, the color of the SB series is a dark, almost smoky, olive green.

 Thanks Alexander,
Perhaps not then, the colour sounds about right but no 'X' on the base. No sign of a folded rim on the
2 Hadeland pieces I've seen either.
