Topic: * Barbini or Toso (Bowl/Ashtray) ?

Hi, I have a extremely heavy, and thick bowl (or ashtray) that is encased with very thick clear glass.  The inner color is a pale creamy green.  I purchased for $4 at a Garage Sale.  Any exact ideas of whom may have made it/year/value ?  What is your opinion Barbini or Toso....or other ?

It measures approx. 7.50 inches across, 2.75 inches high, and approx .75 inches thick.

Mine has gold inclusions on the outside, but Javier says that they were also made without them.

WOW -- your quick Della. 

I just read your thread you posted to me.  That was GREAT.  Yeah, the aventurine on mine is mainly on the inside in swirls....not in the thick, and heavy outer glass. 

I think mine is an ashtray as it has notches.  Mind you, with less, and less SMOKERS these days......I guess that makes it one *BIG PAPER WEIGHT* -- lol.

This is more along teh lines of Fratelli Toso, not Barbini.
It does look like a more generic piece, a little more chunky.

i'm inclined to agree with Javier that this piece is more likely F Toso than Barbini. the somewhat defined aventurine swirl pattern on the inside is found in a lot of Toso pieces.

I was just going to get at (get my *glass* moving here, too.....lol) adding some of these to the Gallery....have not had time to do this...SO I BETTER GET BUSY and getting that done.  Thanks again
