Topic: Can anyone help me identify this cranberry gilded compote??

I am having a very difficult time identifying the maker of this compote. I have yet to find anything remotely similar to it anywhere. It is 13 inches across and stands about 7 inches tall. As seen in the pictures, the gilt is both smooth and raised in different areas. I know that this is a very old piece. Bubbles can be seen as well as the pontil. Is this victorian or later? I would appreciate any help!!

Hi! Welcome to the Board. 
Wow, this is a beautiful item. The gilding looks very fine quality. There is a lovely delicate opalescence around the rim, & the rim itself has an unusual scalloped design.
It is certainly Victorian in appearance, I'm thinking 1880s period. Very good quality.
As for a maker, that is more difficult but I'm going to take a stab & say that to me it looks English, & perhaps by Thomas Webb & Sons. There are things about the comport's shape (especially the interesting rim) that brings to mind known examples of Webb glass. The gilding too, is reminiscent of that on known Thomas Webb items.
However, this is my reasonably educated guess! It could just as easily be from one of the many very fine Bohemian manufacturers of the same era.

Thanks so much for your warm welcome and reply! Yes, this is quite a beautiful piece. I inherited it from my mom who inherited it from her mom, etc. But I don't know how far back it goes. I will definitely research Thomas Webb glass/English glass and see if I can link them to anything similar. I really do appreciate your help. Like I said before, I can't find anything on the web even close to this. It's been very frustrating, to say the least! Thanks again -

From the gilt enamel decoration I'd suspect Harrach or Moser...

Someone just told me that they believe this is Czechoslovakian from the 1940's. Would anyone agree with this?

Similar decoration technique was used by Moser, by Harrach and by ART studios of ZBS but you'll have a hard time attributing the item to any particular works or even time frame.
