I'm not very familiar with decanters but I think you'd describe this as a shaft and globe decanter with an engraved leaf pattern above vertical mitre flutes(?), a hexagonal cut neck and a star cut base.(you might guess I'm taking these terms from a book!).
I'm guessing it's Victorian but I really wonder about the stopper - I hadn't read about them being made of wood before, so could it be original? The bit that fits inside the decanter is clearly made of cork and seems quite roughly cut - it smells slightly of port too! Any ideas about who might have made it and where and when, would also be most welcome.
