Hi,
This is my first question about identifying glass artefacts so please be gentle.
Can anyone help me to identify the manufacturer(s) and dates of these two cranberry comports. They are both handblown. The photographs make them look similar in colour, but the larger one looks a much stronger red with a tinge of pink wheres the other is a very pleasing shade of dark pink.
I believe that the darker cranberry large one with the simple solid glass stem is old - the pontil is crudely polished with rings still visible and there is the odd small bubble and one dark striae in the thick glass of the bowl. It stands 8" tall. Image comport1a.jpg
The other has a visibly much paler dark pink bowl and with a blown stem and more finely polished foot. It stands 6" tall. image Comport2a.jpg
I am particularly interested to know where in the UK and when these might have been made as a part of my family history research.
Thanks for any enlightenment.
Regards,
Martin Brown
