Hi Gilead,

You'll find that http://www.carnival-glass.net/ is one of the most outstanding resources on Carnival Glass.
It is full of fascinating research and we are fortunate to have Glen Thistlewood as a long standing member of this board, who is often able to
help identify people's Carnival and other glass from her encyclopedic knowledge :)
If you click on the link "books and publications" you will find a number of Glen's excellent books.
Hello & Welcome to the Board! Sometimes my replies are short & succinct, other times lengthy. Apologies in advance if they are not to your satisfaction; my main concern is to be accurate for posterity & to share my limited knowledge

Gilead, your tall decanter with the long stopper pic S6004381.JPG, no idea who made them, but I bought one brand new the exact same for my mother around 1981/2 in a gift shop in Edmonton, north London, so that gives you an age, pretty much.  (She still has hers and uses it regularly so it's a very familiar one to me.)
Cheers! Anne, da tekniqual wizzerd

Adam, thank you for your kind words. They are greatly appreciated.

Gilead - the Thistle vase has indeed cropped up here before. The information re. the maker first came from the late Bob Clements (a Carnival collector) who used to work at Canning Town Glass Company. The marigold vases are not too hard to find. There are also just two smoke Carnival Thistle vases known. They were found at a fleamarket in Essex some twenty years ago and were both in our collection (i.e. the collection belonging to my husband and me) for a number of years. We still have one of them - the other was a personal gift to a very close friend of ours.

There is another vase known as Royal Pineapple that is similar to the Thistle in many ways, although a little taller. It is mainly found in marigold, although a smoke example is also known. Photos of all these and further information is all in "A Century of Carnival Glass".

Do you mean iridised clear? Or "flint glass" clear?

Another bit of information that I forgot to mention. The mould for the Thistle vase is at Broadfield House (or possibly Himley Hall, if they've moved it) - West Midlands.

Flint glass clear, although not a particularly good colour. I wonder what else Canning Town made

thats nice to now as im not far from Himley Hall so if the mould is there my thistle vase is not far from it,s parent so to speak, makes a bit of talking point for me to bore my son some more so he says, he just cant see the beauty and style in Glass collecting, and the pleasure you can get from looking at the curves and colour or appearance of the glass, each to there own as the saying go's thanks for the info,
