Topic: Venini incalmo vase...Bianconi?

Hello,

First up I'm planning to sell this, but would like to get my attribution right and have'nt been able to find one exactly like it, ie. just two-tone, and I've been looking for some time! is it a Bianconi design?

23cm (9 1/4in) high, 11cm (4 3/8in) diameter. 3 line 'venini murano italia' mark.

Thanks very much for that, my feeling is that it's a Bianconi design but would like to be sure he did this two-tone version before I commit the sin of misattribution as I believe that others also designed very similar incalmo cylinders for Venini, including (and I stand to be corrected) Paolo Venini, Timo Sarpaneva and Thomas Stern....

I have a very similar Arne Jon Jutrem Hadeland vase dated 1958.

That's very similar is'nt it!

He did'nt ever design for Venini did he? I wonder which came first?

I think AJJ went on to Holmegaard after Hadeland.

They are very similar, the inspiration seems the same, the colors are very close.

I think that this piece is in the same spirit, but not an original one. It is too thick and I'm also not sure that there is a real incalmo. I have some pieces by Venini of that era (blown by the same person) and they look less "heavy" and the incalmo connection is much more evident.

I'm referring to your one.

I have some pieces by Venini made between end '50s and '60s and this is my feeling:
a) Colours and thickness are similar to the famous vase designed by Licata at the mid of '50s, but it features also a band of yellow murrine in the center area (there were two incamos and not just one)
b) The design is more similar to some pieces made during '60s, but they are much more thin and the point of connection of the two pieces attached by incalmo is more evident.

Obviously to be more sure you shuld have the different glassworks all in your hands to have the right information about thickness, weight, colours.
I suppose that, as usual in Murano, somebody has seen the Venini piece and made something in similar style, may be at the same time or later.

Are you suggesting the mark is a fake?? Looks a spot on match to those I've had before and currently own....you can just make it out in the pontil shown in the first photo...
