Iridescent textured ashtray/bowl
« on: February 17, 2008, 10:21:49 PM »
Ahem...
http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,5202.0.html

My bowl has an orange or red clear base colour. The inside is white, not cream.

Is it the same maker? Is there any more info on these?

Thanks, Tony.

My guess is not the same source, is there any transparency when looking at the base? However, as I was working on the bibliography revision this week I came across a title that may be where the reference came from.

Newman, Harold (1977), "An Illustrated Dictionary of Glass": 351 pages 608 b/w 17 colour.
Abstract:
2,442 entries. Definitions of wares, materials, processes, forms, decorative styles, principal glass-makers, decorators, designers. From antiquity to the present. With an introductory by Robert J. Charleston - ISBN Number: 0500274517

Not 100% certain but when I worked on that entry the memory of that vase popped into my head... now your post reminded me again... call it intuition.

Yes, red transparent glass. There is not much ware to the base.

In which case, more likely to be the same source.

'An Illustrated Dictionary of Glass'

I'll have to check my local library for that one...
