Topic: Heavy Green Bark Efect Ashtry?

Hi
   Can some one help in the naming of this Green ashtry/bowl, it stands 2ins high, the inner diameter is 4ins and the outer diameter is 5.1/4 ins and this green beauty weigh's in at 928g or 2lb 3/4oz the thickness of the glass is a minimum of 12.5mm 1/2ins.

Could anyone give me an idea whom made this and around what year? please,

             just taken a look but the green glass on there seems a bit smoother than this, and not so thick, but have got an open mind to it, thanks, is there any other way of telling, from feel, or weight?

Think it's rather too thick and heavy to be Luna, and the colour doesn't look like Davidson. Possibly Czech - I have one similar that Marcus hedged his bets on.

            did he confirm it was Czech? then, i all so saw an hankychief vase which was black with white spot,s was wondering if it was chance, will see if it is still there to moz, do they have a white rim?

No, it was not confirmed for certain to be Czech. The vase could be Bagley Jetique (if in 'black' glass) with Polka Dot pattern, although a white rim is unusual. Chance never did an a black Polka-Dot pattern, but the pattern was applied to clear glass anyway.

I believe the colour of this item is similar to that of the shorter square section Luna vase shown on Chris & Val Stewart's site at the link I posted above. Of course the glass is thicker and heavier than seen on Luna vases, but ashtrays and bowls do appear to have been made in thick glass like this example. I am still fairly confident this is Davidson Luna given the surface texture and the various colours I've seen this pattern in.

          The texture of this bowl is very bumpy yet real smooth if you get my drift, the first 1/2in of the bowl from base is more or less black in colour,which ever way you turn it, but are we safe in saying 70s disregarding whom made bit at the moment?

The rim is between 10 and 12mm thick - the one on Chris' site looks much thinner (although the size is not given). The pattern is also a more realistic bark texture and much sharper than Luna. Lastly, the colour does appear deeper than those shown on cloudglass.com
