Little studio vase signed in gold, McColl? Help please.

I have this lovely little vase, which is signed. It looks as though it says G. McColl? I can't find any mention of such a person, or McCall.
Can anyone throw any light on this piece for me, please?

Speaking of light... :)

I think this piece is an oil candle rather than a vase, due to the size of the opening. The oil would be poured in with a funnel and an insert would hold the wick in place.
