Baskets are they murano
« on: March 25, 2008, 03:08:21 PM »
Are these two baskets Murano ?
they are both of the same shape, the green one being a little wider and both seem to be knotted at the top, both heavy and have polished pontil handles are clear on the outside but coloured on the inside.

They stand 9ins to the top of the knot and both ribbed at base or could they be Czehc?

If glass contains uranium, you can see the very bright glow in daylight - sometimes bright sunlight makes it harder to see, so if you aren't sure, test in shade. But if you can only see the glow in the dark, then it is NOT uranium you are seeing. It is more likely a chemical called manganese, which can act as both a decolorising agent or a colorising agent, depending on your recipe
