Topic: Who made: pink ewer vase with Mica inclusions & vaseline handle?

Just got this today.  There are three layers of glass: outside is clear, middle layer is pink with what appears to be mica or silver inclusions of some sort.  Inside layer is white glass.  Vaseline glass handle, flowing down into a big leaf pattern across the front.  I figure it is Bohemian, but don't know the maker.  Blown shape, no pontil, ground smooth top rim.

I think my vase comes from the same glassworks so I've added it here for future reference.  I think these look quite 'delicate' in pictures but in reality they are quite substantial, weight for size.   This one is 6 1/2" tall (about 17cm) and very well made with a cut and polished rim (well the bit that isn't chipped that is  ).

'... and perhaps also this rather modestly decorated piece'    Dirk, I'm sorry, but there is only one way to describe it and that is 'frou frou'  :ooh:  Actually though, is the pink in yours marbled?  It doesn't look to be quite the same?

You´re right! It´s cased not marbled...  Mmh, at least the colour is similar.

In Germany we´d call it a ´Hausgräuel´ (home´s atrocity), which describes an ugly or kitsch object you´ve been
given by an important person. You therefore have to keep it displayed or put in place in case this person comes
for a visit. A modification would be the m-i-l-atrocity...

Mine is clear cased as well but the pink underneath is marbled pink and white and also has the mica flakes in, then there is a white interior

Stoubridge   , ??               as I found some with applied UV trim, but that is a big ?

I'd be veering towards Bohemian, (if it's European) given the use of mica..... but I'm also starting to wonder if mica was more common than I originally thought...

(also veering towards the loo, in case I'm sick..... not my cup of tea )

Thanks Rose, there are similar pieces from Stourbridge makers I think.  Sue I'm pretty sure it is Bohemian - it's good we don't all like the same thing so just a heads up, don't look at my next post as you are surely going to hate that one  :ooh:
