It has a Harrach-ey look to me, but one of the Big Boys will be able to id the correct house I am sure.  Gorgeous bluebottle iridescence...

Well done!

Thank you very much!

This is a really tricky one

-which means we need Wayne who is the real expert.

-but I'd love to give my guess before he tells us what it really is.

both the finish and the enamelling look like very unusual Loetz effects

BUT from the photos I don't quite think its quite good enough for Loetz -so I'll plump for Kralik

I'm probably wrong and then it will be Poschinger

either way it's a stunner

cheers

Mike

I would plump for Poschinger, going by colour and surface finish, but i could be completely wrong, its a great form, nice thing. Cheers Pwayne

Mike, I look at your website all the time. *drool drool* I found it in a search a couple months ago.  Nice to meet you. :) Is Wayne the same as PWayne? I've been searching for poschinger glass and kralik with keywords iridescent gold enamel and haven't found anything quite the same yet. I don't have the bohemian books yet (I plan on buying some) I am contemplating writing poschinger now and seeing if they recognize it. I've also had Stevens And Williams suggested as a possible maker for this piece. would this be a bottle or a vase or a bottle vase or a gourd shaped vase? It seems like a very unusual shape. I really did the happy dance when I got this piece yesterday. The auction pictures were horrid and as a result I didn't pay much money for it. it's a billion times nicer than the photos were and much nicer than I was expecting it really would be. It's always hard for me to photograph iridescent pieces, (I am a novice with still life, actually a novice with non-still life too but that's beside the point) however,  I do think the pictures I've just taken are a pretty good representation of what it actually looks like.

What a fascinating piece!  The enamel design is quite unusual.  For some reason it strikes me as having a Persian or Arabic influence.

Just another idea to throw into the discussion - maybe the glass was made one place, and the decoration by a refiner.  I don't know if that confuses things more or what.

I hope you get an answer from Poschinger!
