Whitefriars 9778 sizes
« on: May 26, 2008, 10:33:19 AM »
Did the 9773 come in two sizes? Page 14 of the 1974 catalogue shows my 5-in (ish) bowls on the top right but the number is hard to read. I seem to have acquired a sapphire and a ruby one.

Hi Christine  .  I am a bit confused by your posting.  9773 is a large 9 inch diam. lobed and bubbled bowl, just the one size.   Which catalogue are you using the one on .com or .org, as page 14 of .com doesn't show it,as far as `I can see.Emmi

.com Page 14 of the 1974 catalogue, the very top RH corner. That's the catalogue page number I assume. I'm sure it says 5 in

Yours must be the 9778 at 5 inches, the 9773 is the 9 inch bowl.  I have the 9773, although it looks similar to the 9778 (but larger) they are two different shapes not just a large and small version of the same form.  The 9778 is a more "voluptuous" form altogether.  Emmi

I'm really having a lie down now at the price, but I have been enlightened. It's probably late Whitefriars in Sky Blue full lead crystal and so very desirable. The red one weighs 650g and the blue one 1kg.
