Whitefriars Duck - Amber or Gold?
« on: May 28, 2008, 09:29:56 AM »
Picked this up the other week, and I assumed it was Gold FLC, with it being a post-1960 style duck and Amber being discontinued that year... but last week I acquired two other WF pieces, one in Gold FLC and another in Amber, and the duck seems to best match the Amber item.

The Amber takes on a rich orangey-colour when looked down on - the same orangey-colour that the duck clearly has - and I can't find this shade at all in the Gold FLC vase.

So I'm now unsure. Are there any known examples of Amber ducks? Or is it the product of my over-active imagination?  ;D

Hi  Nic,
It is well known that both Amber and Gold ducks do not get on well with TANGERINE ducks. You need to sell me your Tangerine IMMEDIATLY to avoid any inter duck rivalry .
 Regards Patrick. ;)

Thanks for the link, Leni. I had actually looked at that site, but managed to entirely miss the amber ducks on my first visit.  ::)

However, I posted this on WF.com too, and someone confirmed my first instinct that it is indeed Gold FLC.

No risk of duckie fisticuffs, Patrick, as Goldie here is going straight to eBay this evening.  ;D

Hello Steve.

The ridged vase on the right is Gold FLC, and it's currently on eBay!  ;D

Someone who doesn't brave eBay? Not sure there are many of you left.  ;D

There are a fair few folk watching the auction, but that doesn't always translate into bids, so you may be in luck.
