Alexandrit - Moser? ID help please.
« on: June 04, 2008, 09:22:51 AM »
Hi All,
I would be eternally grateful if anyone could possibly confirm, or quosh, my suspicion that this vase is Moser?

160mm in height.

TIA, as always,  :)

That's a gorgeous piece!  And it looks a different color under different light, I assume?

Sorry I can't confirm or quosh.  Seems like there could be other possibilities besides Moser, though - Wiener Werkstaette?  Haida?  Tough one (for me, anyway, but that ain't saying much!).

Hi Kristi,  ;D
Yes, it can be pink, purple, blue, or green, depending on the light source. It it incredibly well made and very heavy. I will continue to scout around and see what I can find out.

Hi Della long time no see. I agree it looks very much like a Moser piece - no other maker of rare earth glass managed to equal the quality of cutting displayed in your photograph (on which congrats are in order).  I own one small dish in a similar style, with equally fabulous cutting. It took me several weeks before I discovered it was stamped as the sig is so vague and slight that you need to know it is there before you can find it.

Hi i have sold several pieces of Moser Alexandrit to the USA all designed by Heinrich Hussmann
but they all had a Moser signature on the base the style of your vase looks like Hussmanns  to me they fetched very good prices.   only an opinion.

Thank you Ivo   ;D and thank you johnphilip. I can't find a signature, but did suspect that it was a Hussmann piece.  :)
