Darcy (Butterfly Mark) French Vase
« on: July 03, 2008, 09:13:59 PM »
At one time I thought I had a site that included Darcy, but when my PC crashed two years ago I was not able to recover everything. I would greatly appreciate any information/links etc. for Darcy since the only thing I can recall was that it was French cameo. I picked up this vase today & paid a bit for it, but I recall actually seeing it in the link I used to have. Thanks for anything anyone can offer. Ken

Frank, I guess I'm missing something. I tried putting is Cecile Darcy & Darcy Glass into the search box on the linked auction site & came up empty on both the glass & the artist. I tried goggling Cecile Darcy & came up empty as to an artist & designer. Can I ask how you found her name associated with the glass? Thanks, Ken.

I found it on that site but used French search terns, there were three or four landscape paintings and one cameo piece. As I had to register to access the archives and realised it was 5am I decided it was time to go to bed instead. It was a tough hunt but I thought that if one piece of glass was signed that there must be some record somewhere. I actually found three other references but they were all pdf and one was a bad pdf so could not see what was in their. The link I gave had pictures in their archive.

The Guerlain thingy appears to have a matching signature.

Of course that still leaves a maker to be found!

I found these two sites with vases but not much information;
http://www.trocadero.com/longbrook/items/432110/item432110store.html
http://www.tradekey.com/selloffer_view/id/1845775.htm
On one the name looks like Dazcy.

Thanks Frank...I certainly did not expect you to stay up all night...thats dedication. I have two emails out to two art glass dealers I've been referred to & I'll post what (if any) info I receive here. May take a day or two though since its over the 4th of July weekend here in the US. Really appreciate the help. Ken

Christine, strangely enough that doesn't bother me...if I'd seen Romania yes, China, no. I know two larger elegant glass dealers here in the US that have Chinese customers who place large orders frequently....for the past decade a significant percentage of vintage US fishing equipment (tackle) rods, reels & especially lures offered for sale have gone to either Japan or China (if you think they like Jadeite you should see how much they like fishing equipment). There is money in China these days (I think mostly ours) & they do collect things.
