Topic: ID help on grey, mottled vase

Another one from my latest auction haul (a box of little oddities that I couldn't resist).  Can't think how best to describe it.......has faded mottled pink, purple and orange colours with greenish grey lines and dots... matt finish all over... flat base.  Looks like a little hyacinth vase.  It's 4"high and 4" at its widest.
Anyone any idea of where or when it might have been made?

Yes certainly. It was decorated (acid stained) some time in the past 20 years by Ilanit glass of Israel, but the blank was imported factory glass from France or Italy.

Would Ilanit export under the label Simron, or are they different operations?

There are actually three Israeli companies that use this process; Ilanit, Nahariya and one that escapes me right now. Of these, Ilanit is by far the largest. The products are indistinguishable, as they all use the same Bormioli or Arques blanks. Quite possible that they use a Simron label - or it may be another one. The technical outlay for acid staining is minimal. Everyone can do it in his garage. Similar stuff is made in Romania, but of a slightly more elegant nature. Not.
