Sapphire blue knobbly - Per Lutken?
« on: August 15, 2008, 05:27:23 PM »
About 17cm high (hard to measure)

Slightly oval polished pontil.

Well...you can guess what I thought this was when I bought it from a grainy photograph.  It's TERRIBLY tempting to sell as 'Lumpy vase - Whitefriars??', but I have restrained myself from doing that.

Does anyone recognise this as maybe Per Lutken?  It's the right colour at least and well crafted.  As you can see from the top-shot, there are four 'bumps' down each side which aren't so apparent from the sides - distinctive??

Any thoughts gratefully received.   :D

The colour's about right for HG's Akvablå, but, as far as I know, Lütken never created any vases with knobbly bits like this. Plus it would almost certainly be signed, even if it were a factory second.

Possibly of Swedish manufacture? A few of the glassworks there also used this colour, and it has a 'Scandi' look to it.

Yes, it does have a Scandi look to it.  Hmm...not Per Lutken then, I thought it should have been signed if it was.  Drat!

Thanks for having a look.  :)
