Hi,
Anyone with any info? Post-war, English, owned by Heppners, and supplied amber glass to Woolworths (recycled Bovril jars)????

TIA,

Marcus

Hi Frank,

I have a photo-copied manuscript from Heppners, asserting Western actually produced glass, post-war, and were not merely a decorating company. Yet there is no mention of the whereabouts of the factory. I agree it is highly likely they were decorating Cz imports as well, but the location of the production plant????  je ne sais pas.

regards,

Marcus

In 1950 PG, they were listed as manufacturers of Bottles, Pressed Glass, dometsic glassware. Address Audrey House, Ely Place, EC1

Quite possible that was where they had works, lots of small factories around there.

However, they were also agents for W J Child Ltd who had a glassworks producing exactly the same range at Eton Glass Works, Grange Road Leyton, E10.

Heppners (Overseas) Ltd and Heppners (London) Ltd were also in Audrey House. Both companies listed as Wholesale agents.

Apologies to the moderators, but Archive items cannot be added to.
Reporting the sighting of an identified Western Glass Co Ltd product.
ebay item no:190040539160
"Sweet Sue Sundaes", name and packaging design by Tim Heppner, formerly of Heppners (London) Limited, whose grand-father, Albert Heppner, set up both companies.
Before people get excited, Tim has told me today, thay they sold over one million sets, so hardly a rarity.
Regards,
Marcus
