Acid Etched Hyacinth Vase - French?
« on: November 04, 2008, 02:14:02 PM »
I'm hoping someone can help ID this beautiful hyacinth vase. It stands approximately 14.5 cm (5 6/8 inches) tall. Colour shades from amber at the rim, through a pinkish colour to clear at the base. The exterior has been etched/ cut back with acid. There are no marks on the vase, but I'm guessing French, around 1900-1920.

Thanks,

Steven

English for sure. Date circa 1920 can be confirmed as earlier glasses had a lower rim.

Thanks Ivo, I never thought about English as I'd not seen this type of acid etched decoration on an English vase before - shows I still have a lot to learn when it comes to bulb vases. Does anyone have any idea of maker or does it just fall under the generic 'Stourbridge' label?

I think it is generic - but maybe Patricia has something to add after she gets back frm Budapest.
