Hi,
A recent find in the Czech Republic brought home just how significant a breakthrough the work of Frantisek Zemek was, in the 1950s. The first image is of two vases, so spot the hot worked item.....

and the second image is of course the pressed glass vase, designed by Zemek @ 1953.

It certainly fooled a number of collectors, but I am very pleased to have this.

How were collectors fooled Marcus? Please expand.

The complete lack of mould lines, was enough to make people assume that it was a piece of hand-worked glass. Certainly the original buyer thought this was a piece of Mstisov/KSM glass, and the quality of the piece is very good.

Hi Cathy,
No, a two piece, but the fire-polish finishing is very, very good, and Zemek imho succeeded in showing that pressed glass was no poor cousin to off-hand work.
