There's one of these and a similar one (different shape and colourway) at the local fleamarket. My thought was relatively contemporary Far East but that could be way off.

Doesn't look contempory in person:-)
Base is ground but relitively unpolished
Heres a pic:-)
glass in sides and base is about 1/4inch thick rim is thinner
