Vaseline glass miniature hat
« on: January 27, 2009, 05:35:06 PM »
I'm not too sure what this is - whether its a toothpick holder or may be a salt   Its only 1¾" high and has a polished pontil mark.
I've looked and looked and can't find anything like it.  Any ideas as to maker, and what it actually is would be greatly appreciated.
TIA :)

Just a posy bowl, seems to have been a popular 50s/60s shape.

at 1.3/4 it would be a salt and I've never seen this colour combo in the 50s/60s. I'd guess it is much older.

I thought that too, just familiar with the shape... not the type of glass. Wondered when the concept first appeared.

The hat was popular in Victorian times as well. Dave Peterson shows several identified pressed glass ones. I would go for 1880s ish. Nice one Anne
