RSW Harlequin Glasses - Which colour is missing?
« on: February 01, 2009, 03:05:38 PM »
I picked up two boxed sets of RSW glasses for Lemington today.

One set, all in a delicate purple colour (the same as the second from right in the photo) is in beautiful condition - complete and labeled.

Unfortunately the second set has fared badly, with one glass missing and the golden/amber one very well used and bearing lots of (rust?) spots and small scratches. So I'm aiming to replace this one and fill in the missing colour for the sixth.

Anyone have any clue what this elusive shade might have been?

*slaps forehead*

Never mind - just spotted the colour range in McConnell. The missing colour could be either clear or green.

Clear is illustrated pg. 224 in McConnell.

Replacements would be great, many thanks, although the ones in the photo look to be a different shape to mine. Mine are 95mm tall x 45mm diameter.

Hi Nic,

Yes the ones in my pic are the shots, rather than your sherry...I've a few sherry in stock that I've not seen in a while so can't remember what colours - from memory we've a set and spare purple which wouldn't be of much use to you - but will mail you if we've a replacement for you.

Still never seen a clear in the flesh or for sale, I suspect if they exist they're "very rare"....

I can imagine them being mis-sold as Holmegaard 'Canada' quite a lot in clear. The designs and overall finish are quite similar to the untrained eye.

Fingers crossed you find a spare green and/or gold one - I'll keep my minces peeled for them on eBay also.  :)

There is a coloured picture of a set of Harlequin Glasses in the Miller's Collectables Price Guide 2005 Page 311. It shows the tumblers and the colour which appears to be missing is smokey grey. the colours seem to be Blue, amber, Purple, Red, Green and Grey.
Hope this helps
Ronnie
