Experience teaches that anyone who begins to collect in any field can feel a change in his soul. He becomes a joyful man filled with a deeper empathy, and a more open understanding moves his soul.

Thanks Pamela - It does seems to be a hard one to identify, but the special design of the base is easy to recognise, so maybe in time.

Here is something very similar with the mark "Schott Zwiesel" on the bottom.  Just a thought, a direction to look in.

Hej Ivo - Thanks for the hint, could be related, but have made a search in "Schott Zwiesel" items without any luck, but I will have it in mind for the future.
Christel Holmgren-Exner have also made for Holmegaard Glasswork a design from 1967 with heavy base in the Kvadrille serie

The glasses could also be of Danish or German origion, although I doubt that they are Danish, I would think I would have notice, but on the other hand, we have several small glass studioes in dk.

Sarpaneva made something similar for iitala in 1956-7, Triennale, but the base isn't quite so heavy. It might be either a design inspired by Sarpaneve, or that this type of heavy base was very popular in the 50's.
